Successful parenting is all about marketing.

Really! I mean, how much time you spend every day thinking of creative ways to “sell” your kids on doing whatever you need them to do?

This simple recipe is a perfect, beginner-level dish for getting your kids involved in the kitchen. Plus, it's addictively delicious--a perfect afternoon snack or summertime dessert.

Does anyone else feel like this summer is just FLYING by? At the beginning of the summer I was full of plans (and some trepidation), worrying about how I would occupy my three kiddos ALL. SUMMER. LONG. But now summer is more than halfway over, and we have barely touched our summer bucket list.

These homemade granola bars will get two thumbs up from the kids for taste, and they're full of healthy, protein-rich ingredients with just enough chocolate to sweeten the deal. We’re back into the swing of school these days, and it’s been busy! Because we’re moving later this month (more on that later), we decided to start Little Man at his new school from the beginning of the school year. Healthy Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake

Disguised as a delicious dessert, this healthy milkshake has practically no added sugar and is a great source of calcium for kids who are reluctant to drink milk. Plus, it’s decadent enough that you’ll want to make it for yourself after the kids go to bed, too.   I hope you all had a fabulous Fourth of July. We spent it with my husband’s family, watching the small-town parade, playing games, grilling up some delicious chicken (the lemon rosemary chicken marinade in this post), and lighting off fireworks in the street. Hooray for mid-week holidays! That’s my kind of Wednesday.

Do you struggle to get your kids to drink enough milk? Lately, my kids have been rejecting their daily dose of moo juice, even in their cereal. They just say, “I want milk on the side,” and then they leave the cup sitting there unless I remind/insist that they drink it. Thanks, kiddos.

Deliciously Easy Homemade Kettle Corn

There are few treats I like more than the simplicity of old-fashioned kettle corn. And making it at home is easier than you might think–with just a few ingredients and five minutes of cooking, movie night just got so much better!  Homemade kettle cornI’m in love with kettle corn. It was a happy day when I realized that Costco sells giant bags of Boom Chicka Pop. I’ve been buying it pretty regularly for the past year, and my life has been happier for it. It’s the perfect snack when you want something sweet but you’re not prepared to commit to a full on fudgy chocolate cake (although there is absolutely nothing wrong with decadent desserts…they certainly have their place in my heart). Kettle corn is almost healthy…just a little sugar and a whole lotta whole grain. Mmm.

After school snacks are essential at our house. This quick and easy, protein-rich banana sushi is a favorite healthy snack your little monkeys will love! After school snacks are essential at our house. This quick and easy, protein-rich banana sushi is a favorite healthy snack your little monkeys will love! Almost every day, the first thing my son says to me when I pick him up from school is “Mom, I’m really hungry.” Now, keep in mind, he eats a full lunch at school, and he has a small snack about 20 minutes before I pick him up. But this kid has the metabolism of a marathon-running cheetah…so he is ALWAYS hungry (send HELP when he becomes a teenager).
