This three-ingredient caramel cream cheese yogurt dip makes a perfect afternoon snack or holiday party treat to share.
Truth: nursing a baby makes me hungry. all. the. time. I know this shouldn’t surprise me since this my third child, but I am still amazed at how much my body craves nourishment while trying to feed another little person.
Now, that’s not such a terrible problem because I love food, but I’ve struggled lately with finding snacks that are quick, healthy and filling. I don’t have a lot of time or energy for elaborate cooking right now. I mean, I can barely manage to get a shower in the morning…I’m not going to be recreating the fancy recipes from the Great British Baking Show any time soon (as much as I have loved watching that show while nursing…hmm, maybe that’s not helping the hunger thing). Anyway, I have several good snack foods in my repertoire (granola bites, mini muffins, etc.) but I was aching for some variety.
That’s when the idea for this caramel cream cheese yogurt dip came to me. Call it inspiration. Call it the hunger-induced desperation of a nursing mama. Call it whatever you like, but I’m just glad I acted on it, because this dip is yummmmy.I’ve been in a fall-inspired apple mood lately that demanded to be indulged (p.s.- have you made this homemade applesauce yet???). While thinking about all the delicious fall foods I want to make, I got to thinking about one of my favorites…caramel apples.
What if…I thought…I could create a healthy-ish dip that draws on the flavors of a caramel apple? A quick raid of the fridge and a few minutes of stirring later, I had a tasty creation that both my boys and I loved.
The creamy sweetness of the caramel and cream cheese pairs perfectly with a tart green apple. It also contrasts deliciously with salty pretzels. And, it’s relatively healthy, too. It’s got the caramel, sure, but you’re really not consuming a lot of sugar since it’s mixed with other ingredients. Unless, that is, you eat the whole bowl in one sitting–a very real possibility.
This dip has become my new snack food of choice the past few weeks. It’s got enough protein to actually fill me up for a little bit, and it encourages me to eat healthy apples–instead of just grabbing a handful of crackers or chips.
So, if you’re looking for a way to change up your afternoon snack game, or if you want a super simple dish to bring to a holiday party, I’ve got you covered.
Enjoy!

This looks delish!
We make something kinda similar during the Fall months and LOVE it! But I’ll have to give this one a shot!
Great minds think alike, Rachel!

Thanks! Simple is my goal at this point in life.
Oh yummy, yummy! I’ve made something like this before that has Heath bits on top, but I guess that defeats the whole “healthy” aspect of it, lol.
Ooh, but Heath bits are so good!
Can I just say how yummy this looks. I’m a huge caramel and apple lover.
A match made in heaven!
